Unlike nut milks, oat milk doesn’t require pre‑soaking, and blending briefly with cold water keeps it smooth without a slimy texture.

Ingredients

Tools You’ll Need

Homemade oat milk recipe Step‑by‑Step Instructions

  1. Add oats + water
Place the oats and cold water in a blender.

  2. Blend briefly
Blend on high for about 30–60 seconds — just enough to break down the oats but a milk machine take all that guessing out for you!  Avoid over‑blending to keep the milk from turning slimy.

  3. Strain the milk
Pour the blended mixture through your nut‑milk bag,  cheesecloth or a strainer as my daughter did in the video into a bowl or pitcher. Gently squeeze to extract the liquid if using milk bag or cheesecloth.

  4. Flavor (optional)
    Mix in your flavorings.

  5. Chill & serve
Transfer to a sealed container and refrigerate. Homemade oat milk typically keeps for 3–5 days in the fridge.
