This is without a doubt, the hit movie of the year and if you are Black, you better run and see it. the Sinners Movie is what I love to call a movie that speaks to Black folks in a way that reminds us of who we are and what we are all about. Yes, it is fiction. Yes, it is horror and yes it is even a love story, but it is also a masterpiece of cinema creativity and love.

Why am I discussing this movie? Well, I was lucky enough to be invited to a pre-screening a few days ago and invited a few friends along since just about everyone I knew wanted to see it. We all love Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan!
I was so excited to see this in an early release and even though I knew it was TECHNICALLY a horror film (really no longer into seeing movies in that genre) I ALWAYS make the exception for black filmmakers as their stories always have a deeper meaning and bring Black artists to the forefront. Far too often, Black actors are sidekicks and after thoughts in movies and representation is necessary and appreciated.
I love seeing movies on an IMAX screen as “every frame of the film has been optimized for cinematic clarity, detail and scale.” No distortion, just clear cinema perfection that allows you to enjoy the movie even more.

I cannot praise Ryan Coogler, Michael B. Jordan, Miles Canton, and Wunmi Mosaku enough for the stellar performances they brought to this film. The music was masterful, the acting was Oscar winning worthy and the writing was top-notch. I LOVE how this film was for Black people to enjoy our language, our history in a fictional format while centering ourselves and our greatness. This movie was about us and for us and allow the white folks TO HATE if they choose to.
Natural Hair 2025, What is Happening To Our Community?
Sinners Movie opens Friday, April 18th 2025 and I URGE you to see this masterpiece of film with as many friends and family you can. I LOVED it and honestly, whether Black or other, you will too.
