Beauty trends are forever changing and with this year just racing by, we are already in full Fall mode and in need of the latest and most loved beauty trends to keep us looking fab. Some of the new color and tips are a bit racy while others will find many gravitating to. No matter which ones you fall in love with or simply hate, there is truly something to rock for everyone. Time to check out the new looks to fall in love with.
Some soft while others are quite jarring, color-block eyelids dominated the NYC fashion week. Labeled, pop art, this look is less about one dominate color but rather, embracing several colors.
For fall there isn’t one eyeshadow that is trending – it’s all of them. Fun, wild, visually striking and overflowing with youthful energy. While some looks were whimsical and fantastical, we bring you the most wearable looks and encourage you to loose your makeup routine and play.
Opposite of the black craziness that was going on, designer houses like Oscar de la Renta, Maison Margiela, Marco di Vincenzo and many others surprised us with a bright splash of color on the lids. Orange, blue and yellow tones were paired together to make a strong statement. I am not sure if the majority of people would dare to wear this makeup looks in real life, but I am glad that Pat Mc Grath encouraged us to: “Now, more than ever, makeup is about enjoying color and making statements”
Is this look for you? Not sure for me, but I must say if you want to rock black all winter, this is the right eyelid to bring to many holiday parties to spice up your look. Honestly, the majority of all the beauty trends this fall are concentrating on the eyes. From color-blocking to wicked eyeliner to using every color imaginable is giving weight to the windows to the soul. As long as you make the focus around the eye, whether eye shadow or liner, you are ahead of the fall beauty game.
Seen last winter and resurfacing again this fall, smudged lips (snogging) is a big beauty trend to watch for. Most of the time when we see smudged lips, we think of a long kiss with our beau, an overly aggressive BBQ feast or even a fight with our lipstick. Never do we think of this being a beauty trend but it is back.It was veteran makeup artist Val Garland who created the look, which stole the show at Preen by Thornton Bregazzi during London Fashion Week. Vogue confirms that we’re correct to assume Garland was indeed alluding to a steamy hook-up session. “It’s about kissing and snogging. This girl goes clubbing, she’s confident and she loves kissing,” Garland told Vogue. “I’m using MAC’s Lip Mix and smudging out the line, using a larger brush and buffing it out, and then applying gloss within the lip line but not outside it.”
Interested in this look? Well, it takes more than applying the lippy and then smearing it to high heaven. Check out beauty trendsetter MUA expert and Beauty Bash owner, Annie Carter share how to recreate this look:
– Choose a lipstick that is glossy and bold in colour when recreating this look
– Next apply neatly with a precision lipstick brush, apply as much or as little as you’d prefer to make the colour really pop!
– Now using your finger, slightly smudge towards the lip line
– Finally neaten off this look using concealer or lip liner along the lip line for a more wearable look.
Vampy lips or simply rocking dark hues of lipstick is always a winner during Fall and Winter. From the deepest burgundy to a sheer, just-bitten wash of blackberry, The super-sexy Vampy lip is easily doable for everyone. Not everyone is daring enough to wear all the amazing outfits Rihanna sports, but her lippy color of late is definitely a color worth trying.
Just in time for Halloween, these lippy colors are gaudy, grand and gorgeous! Not sure which ones to try out? Try a strikingly bold shade of black, blue, red, or even deep purple. Burgundy is always a fave and The NYX Professional Makeup Matte Lipstick in Goal Digger is the perfect shade to rock this fall without veering too off your comfort color game.
Another one to try is M.A.C. Lipstick in Cyber which is a cool-tone boysenberry shade in a formula that’s neither too glossy nor matte. It’s also incredibly bold and looks great with a neutral face. You can get it here.
As if nails are not taking us to extremes already, the newest style for nails this fall is going all the way out and pushing the limits even further. Funky colors, themes, shapes and lengths were making waves during fashion week but as nail art progresses, the desire to stay with the trend is not lost on mere mortals such as ourselves.
Most women with 9 to 5 jobs and regular duties that do not fit in with a catwalk want to get in on the fun and can do so very easily. Pick a color (or a few) and just go wild! Add glitter, add stones and if you are not of the nail art creative side, enlist the help of your favorite nail shop for ideas, styles and cool colors.
I believe the hugely popular show on TNT, Claws, with Nicey Nash has a lot to do with this emerging trend. Their designs are as creative and unique as the characters and can give you loads of inspiration to bring your style to life through nail art.
Whether it’s in the hair, cheekbones, lip or eyes, metals are a winner for this Fall as it has been all year. Even our bodies are not safe to keep from the metal mania as more women find the precious stones go amazingly well on their skin. As the melanin-dipped goddesses that we are, golds, reds, silvers and beyond are making waves in beauty trends this fall turning us into masterpieces of fashion.
Whether you are going for warm or cool colors, this look can be borrowed from summer and brought back to life this fall for holiday parties. I’ve even embraced the metallic beauty trends fully with one of my favorite newest colors by Gallany Cosmetics Metallic lipsticks, Bailey.
Metallic makeup will be hot this fall and winter and while I may stick to my lips, feel free to take it up a notch with skin shimmering powders and glosses that take your holiday look to an even greater festive height.
Wavy Eyebrows & Lips
Beauty trends often seem to come out of nowhere and have to say these two looks fall into that group. Wavy eyebrows and lips may be giving some of us the creeps but one cannot say this beauty trend is ever boring. Instagram is all a buzz over the eyebrows that came out first and found several copycats who just had to give this look a try. Customizing one’s eyebrows is nothing new but this squiggly eyebrow style is a tad strange to say the least. Will it last? It might last longer than you think as it has gone even further!
It wasn’t too far after the eyebrows became IG famous when someone decided to make wavy lips a ‘thing’. God help anyone who tries to rock both at the same time but for now we’ve only seen one or the other. I have to say the wavy lips are nice in a weird, never-wear-out-of-the-house sort of way but to each HER own!
Will either of these looks stay long? Not sure but they are here for now and a fall look to rock if you are into the latest and the greatest and want a new look to wear to a special party. No matter which one you choose to do, you will have all eyes on you!
So, here are some of the biggest beauty trends for fall and winter that are sure to create amazingly stunning styles throughout the holidays. Are you up for the challenges, colors and craziness (of some) of these looks? Let me know and make sure to tell me which ones you are DYING to try!
