How To Take the Stress Out of Wash Day for Afro & Curly Textures | My Fluffy Puffs Giveaway!

Washing natural hair is one of the most talked about, misunderstood and essential component of natural hair maintenance.  While washing hair is not hard, learning to wash natural hair can be a task if one is unfamiliar with coily and kinky strands. Our natural strands tangle and coil around themselves and if improperly handled, our efforts can cause damage. 

Many women who have trouble going natural usually complain of the wash day being the reason for going back to the creamy crack. So we’ve come up with some tips on lessening the stress on wash day and giving your strands some serious TLC too. 

Wash Hair Regularly
One of the best ways to keep hair healthy is to keep it clean. The old belief that dirty hair grows faster has been debunked and we know a clean scalp and hair is the best way to keep hair in great shape and for it to thrive. Putting off washday can make it harder to detangle and may be clogging your scalp with product, dirt, oil and pollutants. 

Do A Pre-Poo
Some have gone back and forth with the use of a pre-poo but for many it has made washday easier with detangling. It is also great for countering the harshness of shampooing your hair as it removes all dirt and oils. Using the right oils is important (Purpose of Pre-poo), and there are products to use that help with that too. 

Give Yourself Time
They say patience is a virtue and when it comes to natural hair it is a must do! Trying to wash your hair in record time instead of taking the time necessary is a frustrating nightmare you want no parts of! You should be washing hair in sections (that takes time), detangling properly (that takes time) and deep conditioning for at least 15 minutes (that also takes time!) for a proper wash day routine.
