5 Best Essential Oils For Fighting Acne

5 Best Essential Oils For Fighting Acne

As someone who has suffered from acne since puberty, it can be annoying at best and downright scaring (pun intended) at worst.  I’ve tried a lot of products over the years but got no real significant success until I started using natural oils for my hair and skin care.

TOP 4 UNDER-REPRESENTED NATURAL OILS TO TRY IN 2016

Most of the skincare products available these days are filled with harsh chemicals that worsen the skin’s condition over time. Essential oils are natural oils that contain ingredients loaded with all the good stuff your skin and body needs.

Here is a list of 5 natural oils, effective in fighting acne outbreaks:

Tea tree oil

This is one of the most popular essential oils, and for good reasons. It targets the bacteria causing the skin irritation and inflammation. This is because of its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. A recent study showed that tea tree oil is just as effective for curing acne as benzyl peroxide. That is a chemical ingredient used in skincare products for acne treatment.

How to use

You can either add tea tree oil to your skincare products or make your own from the scratch. It’s quite easy!

  • To use in your skincare products, add 1-3 drops to your moisturizer or cleanser.
  • To make a moisturizer you would need your tea tree oil and a carrier oil- it could be olive oil, coconut oil or any oil you feel comfortable using.
  • For each tablespoon of carrier oil, add in 6-8 drops of tea tree oil. Measure your mixture according to the amount you would need.

Frankincense oil

Frankincense oil helps fight acne and removes acne scars at same time. It also controls excessive oil production that could lead to breakouts. The reason for this is that the oils on the face can seal in dirt, clogging the pores. It also prevents inflammation and skin irritation.

3 BEST OILS FOR WINTER SKIN & HAIR CARE

How to use

You can use this oil without diluting it. However, if you feel more comfortable mixing it, use one part carrier oil and one part essential oil. This is basically a 50:50 measurement.

Rosemary oil

This potent oil fights against excess sebum (oil) production. It contains essential nutrients such as vitamins and antioxidants. This makes it a good cleaning oil for the skin. it also rehydrates the skin, putting a glow back into dull or pale skin

How to use

For adults, you can easily use Rosemary oil undiluted. For children though, it would be advisable to mix one part carrier oil with the essential oil before applying it.

Lavender oil

Lavender oil is very soothing and calms the skin. Applying it on your areas of concern regularly, will leave you with amazing results. It contains acne fighting properties and I use this oil for my hair and face regularly. Using lavender oil daily as part of your skincare routine is a great way to prevent acne outbreaks.

Bergamot oil

Its citrus scent is the most appealing thing ever. Apart from that, it is very revitalizing, containing antibacterial properties to help treat and prevent skin infections. Bergamot oil also blends well with other oils, so you can make your own perfect mix of a personalized acne treatment.

Essential oils are natural cures for skin issues and when used properly, they have no adverse effect on the body. Using these cures will help you harness radiant, blemish free skin. The carrier oil choices are up to you but I love jojoba oil as my carrier oil to blend essential oils with.

i love tea tree oil. it works super well for treating zits/ pimples and treating dandruff. I use this as a spot treatment for my acne. i put tea tree oil straight on my pimple and it definitely goes away quicker than when i leave it. I don't dilute it, but it doesnt irritate my skin and i find it's the best way to use it.

No one in this world likes to develop acne and pimples on their face. It certainly irritates and de-motivates a person from doing a work or even reduces his/her morality. acne on back
