Essential Oils are external agents meant to aid in removal of waste and dead cells. They facilitate renewal of new healthy cells. In order for the skin to hold on to the natural moisture, essential oils should be mixed with carrier oils such as Jojoba oil, coconut oil, or olive oil adding to the nourishment. Before one applies any essential oils, one should first try applying few drops on one’s wrist or around the neck/ears and see if there is any irritation on the skin.

In order to try something new in 2016, let us all find out about four lesser known essential/natural oils.

Bergamot Oil is best for acne prone skin. It’s anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and drying qualities helps alleviate existing blemishes. Bergamot oil is ideal for oily skin and for spot treatment. It also has cleansing properties and is used as a spray to clean dirty surfaces like public bathrooms. It is ideal for guarding one’s immune system.

Marula Oil is derived from Marula tree, found in southern and western Africa. It contains antioxidants and also has a high content of omega 9 oleic acid, omega 6 and also essential fatty acid-linoleic acid. It keeps the skin hydrated for a long time owing to the presence of a high concentration of palmitic acid. 

It smoothes redness on the skin and is a wonderful conditioner. It is almost odorless. It is non-greasy and light. Marula oil has a balanced content of fatty acids, vitamins and minerals and therefore an appropriate facial moisturizer. It is used for anti-aging, dry skin, eczema, sun damage, acne and both for dry and damaged hair.

One of essential oils more commonly available to us is the Peppermint oil which is ideal for reducing sleep anxiety. It is a blend of spearmint essential oil and water mint. 

Spearmint essential oil, the rarer one is anti-inflammatory oil. It channelizes the blood flow right up to one’s scalp. In the process, it carries more nutrients as well. Spearmint essential oil has a soothing effect on itchy skin. It relaxes and stimulates a worn out mind.
