Favorite Natural hair products in 2013

I have to say that 2013 was a pretty busy and productive year with my natural hair.  I actually see growth and trying a new method really brought me closer to my hair goals.  I am happy with the path the blog is taking and cannot contain the joy I have at the boutique opening up this year.  This will be my first end of the year “favorites” on Natural hair products but I see how important it is to showcase what has really worked for me or what I fell in love with over the past 12 months.

AS I AM Coconut CoWash Cleansing Conditioner

AS I AM COCONUT COWASH

As I Am Coconut Cowash became a staple early in the year right when I started the Curly Girl Method (CGM).  I had to ditch shampoos because the tangles were horrendous and when I came across this I was ecstatic with the results. It smells good, it works good and it cleans my hair and scalp without buildup.  I only use this to cleanse my hair for the past 11 months and had no problems at all.  I have less tangles this year and I know this had a lot to do with it.  I gave it 5 out of 5 starts when I reviewed it back in May.

Shea Moisture Hair Color System

SheaMoisture Shea Moisture Hair Color

I struggled much of 2012 trying to find a hair coloring system that was all natural and would not harm my hair.  I tried a few concoctions I found around the web with honey, cinnamon, Carmon….you name, I tried it.  I was about to give up when Shea Moisture came out with a hair coloring system that wasn’t all natural, but didn’t have a bunch of bad things in it.  It is free of ammonia and sulfates and when you used it…your hair  will feel as soft as a baby’s bottom.  I am not exaggerating at all. (OK, maybe a little)  My sister, daughter and I used it several times over the summer and we all loved it! It also got 5 out of 5 stars when I reviewed it in August.

SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Reconstructive Finishing Elixir

SHEA MOISTURE RECONSTRUCTIVE FINISHING ELIXIR

I haven’t done a review of this product but mentioned it in the Shea Moisture hair coloring system review about me loving it.  My sister turned me onto this and I keep it in my shower to add to my conditioner.  It is an all-natural oil treatment to repair and strengthen hair.  Whenever I do the review it will get 5 stars.

I had to pick my favorite but that does not mean I didn’t have other products that worked well.  I came across some great ones and so I’ll call them my honorable mentions:

Natural Hair Community Nettles Hair Tea

Karen’s Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia Leave-in Conditioner

They were top notch so don’t sleep on them for one minute!  It seems Shea Moisture made a great impact on my hair in 2013 and rightfully so. They are a great product line so if you have not tried them I say take a trip to you local Target and check them out.

Later this week I’ll be discussing my favorite beauty products of 2013 (probably after Christmas) so enjoy your holidays and stay warm!

Take care Naturals,

Sabrina
