Yes, I’m Natural….No, I’m not Vegan

Yes, I'm Natural....No, I'm not Vegan

I’m compelled to write a short post on behalf of the many, many Naturals who are not Vegans and/or Vegetarians.  Why?  Well, for one I am tired of being asked by Vegans (especially) if we care so much for our hair and what we put in it, then why don’t we care for our bodies and what we put in them. Many natural hair conversations that start in groups on Facebook or others social media sites have at least one Vegan spouting how wrong we are for our eating habits. Somehow some Vegans have mistaken being enthusiastic about Natural hair as a gateway to Veganism and that path is non-existent for many or most.

I love meat!!!

Understand?  I love eggs, and cheese, and milk…well not love it but you get the point, and whatever else Vegans refuse to eat.  I love it.  I grew up on it and I eat it now and I feed it to my children.  Hell, I love veal parmigiana but haven’t had it in years and mostly eat chicken or eggplant parmigiana now but the reality of it all is I love all those foods and have no intentions of giving them up.

Just because I choose to be Natural and are very particular about what I put in my hair does not mean I hate my body.  I don’t have the issues many Vegans have with the foods they chose not to eat.  I don’t go ranting to relaxed women to put down that creamy crack but rather give my reasons as to why I don’t use it any longer.  I don’t feel I am better or healthier than relaxed women and personally I don’t feel Vegans are better or healthier than me.  Can we get off the high horse of judgement and allow me and my red beans and rice (WITH SAUSAGE) to become one?  You are what you eat right?

Joking, but kinda sorta in a round about way serious.  I am annoyed with being judged by some Vegans who love to shout out how bad we are for eating what they don’t eat like being Natural MEANS you have to be Vegan. I try and eat healthier, but I can do that and still eat meat, cheese, etc. It’s like saying that all Naturals must listen to Neo-Soul, waiting for the black revolution and hate all white people.  It’s pigeon holing someone and although I love Neo-Soul, wouldn’t mind the revolution and can hate anyone on any given day…I don’t fall into that category.

So to all the vegetarians and Vegans who do not pressure the rest of us to partake in their lifestyle I hope you understand my rant was not for you.  This was for your brothers and sisters who are following me (and others) with pitchforks screaming at us to join them.  As for the ones trying to convert us or shame us for our lifestyle I ask you to lay off and remember this is our CHOICE and if I want to join you I will and if not…..let it go.  It’s annoying to be harassed in this manner and it doesn’t make you right or wrong but just a bully.

We are all in this together Naturals,

You go girl! I love this post! To each it's own. You can certainly have a healthy lifestyle without being a vegan & still be natural. You told them!

Thank you. Here's the funny thing. God has no problem with us eating meat! As a matter of fact the children of Israel ate plenty of it in the Bible. I say grace and keep it moving. Now, I don't eat pork and I limit red meat consumption but I love me some chicken and turkey so I will never became a veg. They just don't know what they're missing lol

On another note, you ever notice many vegans are overweight? WTH are they eating? I'll tell you. Over compensating with junk food! Now, that's not all but some

Thanks for sharing and yes, there are some who are overweight which I find kinda odd with their very restrictive diets but you may have a point.
