New hair cut from More than Curly Salon ( Part 1)

It was long overdue so I was overly excited about getting my hair cut at the famous Denver More than Curly Salon in Aurora, CO.  I have heard so many local Naturals rave about this salon so I was more than ready to go as soon as I had the funds.  I’ve been struggling with styling this hair and my sister was sick of seeing me wearing a headband so often.  It was time!

I had to get squeezed in on a Tuesday because they were booked up on Saturdays for months so waiting any longer was out of the question.  They have a great location within a quaint strip mall that’s fairy new and actually across the street from a mall.  Kinda out of my way but it seems like nothing is close by in the Denver area so I wasn’t put out.

I didn’t ask to take pic inside because I just didn’t feel right about it, but I have to say this is a very upscale and beautiful salon that makes you feel you are being pampered.  Modern shampoo bowls, beautiful mirrors and decorations and a video of scrolling pictures showcasing their clients with their beautiful do’s.  On one side of the wall in the foyer you see just about every product Ouidad carries and if you didn’t know it was affiliated with Ouidad you did once you walk in.

Lasha, pronounced (Luh-shay) worked on my hair and she was very knowledgeable.  She told me exactly what she was going to do after she asked me what I was concerned with.  I told her my main concern was styling my hair and she then told me about their famous Carve and Slice cut that was going to open up my curls and allow them to fall correctly.  She checked my hair and to my delight she said my hair was healthy.

From the Shampoo bowl to her styling chair and even to the dryer she explained each product she was applying as well as why it was good for me.  She also told me as she shampooed my hair I was shedding badly and asked about my water intake.  Its been pretty non-existent and she explained how vital it was especially living in Colorado to drink a lot of water to combat the shedding.  I had to admit I have noticed more shedding than usual and have increased my water intake ever since.

Yes, she put me under the dryer with the free Deep Conditioning I got for being a new client and I have to tell you that for a special cut that cost $95 dollars, they need to add the DC every time!  When I was ready for the cut I had to admit she really didn’t take off that much but was concentrating on the middle of my hair and that’s the longest part of my hair.  With so little hair cut off I ended up with a hell of an awesome style and cut that I have fallen in love with.

I was suggested to try a few of Ouidad’s products and given much advice on it and my hair was styled where I didn’t need to wash and go for a week.  I was skeptical….I know me.  I’m the wash and go queen but I was gonna give it a try.

Check out Part 2 tomorrow!!

Take care Naturals,

Sabrina

Cute cut! I like how your curls fall in the front.

Thanks! I am in love with the cut. I would recommend that shop to any woman or man with Natural hair.

Sounds like you had a nice experience. My daughters have been wearing natural hair since 2009 and they have a curl pattern but 3 of the four of them can't see it as much after the hair dries. I wonder do they have something similar to this near us. I have never seen a curly hair salon before. Most of these salons want to slap a relaxer in your hair and call it day. I'm not knocking anyone who uses them but I have seen first hand what it did to my kids hair and so it isn't for us and even though I didn't need it, my hair is very fine and curly, I used to wear them just to make my hair bone straight instead of curly. Worse thing I could have done. I haven't had one in 12 years and will never wear one again.

Good for you! I only found out about this shop about a year ago but I'm sure if you go to the Ouidad website they should have a listing of salons around the country.
