5 BEST ESSENTIAL OILS FOR FIGHTING ACNE
Tea Tree oil is particularly effective against fungus, bacteria and viruses and can help with many ailments from sore throats to acne to toenail fungus. The uses of this oil are vast but please note it’s not for human consumption.
This wonder oil has great uses for hair and scalp issues that many of us are suffering from including myself. There are several shampoos with tea tree oil in them to for regular cleansing as well as fighting dandruff. I no longer use shampoo and have embraced the Curly Girl Method. Here are just a few of the amazing benefits this essential oil brings to your ailing hair.
Dandruff or seborrhoeic dermatitis plagues many people and this embarrassing problem can be easily fixed by just a few drops of this anti-fungal essential oil.
Simply pour some shampoo or cowash conditioner in the palm of your hand and add 4 or 5 drops of the oil. Begin shampooing and leave on your head for about five minutes to allow the oil to penetrate and work. Rinse and repeat if necessary.
Before I started the curly girl method, I used this successfully whenever my dandruff problem would rear it’s ugly head (which was once or twice a year). The smell will not linger and this is much better than using those dandruff shampoos that are chocked full with chemicals.
Not just for helping with dandruff is an excellent reason for using it on your scalp; Tea tree oil is also used against head lice and cradle cap. Several studies have shown this oil to help with killing lice in the nymph and adult stages, as well as reducing the number of lice eggs that hatch. This may be great as an addition to a traditional lice treatment to ensure they are gone.
This oil is amazing but it won’t directly give you longer and thicker hair but instead will encourage hair growth by helping to unclog hair follicles and nourish the roots. This will allow for the best environment for healthy hair growth. Massaging the oil in your scalp on a regular basis can be very effective against many scalp issues along with helping with product and environmental build-up our hair is subject to.

Great post I have been talking about this oil all week to a friend, I mix mines with Castor and olive oil!
What a great idea. Haven't seen anyone mix it with other oils, just with shampoo, but I can't see why not.
Great information and very relevant =) makes me want to go back to using TTO again.
You won't be sorry and thank you for the kind words.
I just discover the wonders of the oil for my scalp recently. I had used Organix Tea Tree oil conditioner and shampoo once. And loved it. This month I purchased the oil itself and my scalp feels so good.
Doesn't it feel great on our heads? I think it will be a staple addition to my shampoo since I suffer from the dandruff but also because it will help keep my hair clean as well.
It is great for joint pain too, I put 18 drops in 1/4 cup of grape seed oil and rub it into my knee. It really does the trick!
That's a great tip! My knee has been killing me lately with all this walking. I"ll give it a try.
I've had some oil lying around. I bought this hair mayonnaise that has tea tree oil in it, and I started thinking….why don't I use this oil in my hair?
I added some oil in my spritz bottle with water and lightly wet my hair before braiding it for tomorrow. My scalp and my hair feels WONDERFUL! Thanks for the tips about the shampoo. I will be trying this next! God Bless!
You are very welcome!!
Tea Tree Oil is also good for boils also. I had once and I read somewhere that tea tree oil works on them. I was also in this Asian store and was told to use it also. I used it and it worked dried it out in a few days instead of the Dr. cutting it open.
I swear the uses for tea tree oil is amazing. I am so not surprised at that.
My hair is VERY natural. Every now and then I straighten it with some harsh products that seem to get the job done even though I know it is absolutely horrible for my hair. Beauty at a price. .. anywho, after shampooing I leave my alcohol-less conditioner on my hair for about 15 mins and in the mean time I whip up a tea tree remedy. Simply mixone egg, one tablespoon of olive oil, and about ten drops of tea tree oil. Mix the ingredients together and put on top of the conditioning hair. I usually wrap on piece of lastic wrap just tight enough around my edges and sit for how every long I want to condition- usually through an episode of Law & Order. Rinse out and style as usual…. hope this helps!
That's a great idea. I love using it for my dandruff which hasn't come back at all! Just a few drops in the palm of my hand mix with shampoo and there you go! No harsh dandruff shampoos!

The benefits of Tea Tree oil are plentiful. Thanks for the kind words.
Hi,
I have been suffering from a itchy scalp & hair loss, and baldness at the crown of my head for some years now. My hair would grow a little bit and come back out again. I decided to transition to natural and my last relaxer was December 2011. I've been to a few doctors and I was told I had seborrheic dermatitis. I didn't believe it and I was only prescribed nizoral shampoo. In November 2012 I decided to get another opinion from a dermtologist who specializes in hair loss. To make a long story short I was told I had a fungal infection. You can pull the hair in the crown of my head and it comes out that easily. If I was diagnosed correctly years back this could have been treated long time ago. I was prescribed Lamisil for 4 weeks because I couldn't afford the other medication Griseofulvin which was have cost me $230!! So now today I think the fungal infection have returned so yesterday I decided to buy some pure 100% tree tea oil. Hopefully this will work!! Wish me luck and I'll take any suggestions.

Thank you!!
Oh, I cannot believe you had to go through all of that and have the first doctor misdiagnose you. Talk about malpractice! I hope the tea tree oil helps and if not at least you know what worked in the past. Thank you so much for sharing.
Should I dilute the tree tea oil with another oil such as EVOO or should I use it alone?
Thank you,
Sharonna
I just add drops to a palm full of shampoo (when I used it) or conditioner. I guess it depends on what you plan on doing with it.
Does anyone know of any type of tea tree oil 'leave-in' hair pomade?..

Tea tree oil is wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
I just ordered this product in hopes of alleviating my very dry, itchy scalp. I think it is fungus also because in the past, I was given selenuim sulfide shampoo but no oral medicines. I think some should have been prescribed for me, but it didn't happen. I am so hoping this product alleviate some of my issues with my scalp. I also have a dermatology appt next week. Wish me luck!!
