Product Review – Kinky Curly Come Clean shampoo

It’s no secret that I am a HUGE fan of the Kinky Curly Line.  Since their products are staples for me I figured I discuss them early on.

I came across this line about two years ago after leaving Miss Jessie’s Line alone.  I was looking for something lighter on my hair as well as not leaving it crunchy when it dried after a wash and go.  It was the perfect combination.  Lighter than Miss Jessie’s and heavier than Mixed Chicks.  I was happy! 


Kinky Curly does not lie about this shampoo being able to remove whatever gunk or crap you have in your hair.  It will strip it clean.  I actually started using this shampoo while I was still using Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding and it completely removed the build up I was getting from it.  If you are using less then natural products and need a shampoo to really  clean your hair then this is the shampoo for you.


After I started using the entire Kinky Curly line I felt the Come Clean was stripping TOO MUCH of my hair.  It was too harsh for me since I was using better products as well as natural oils.  That wonderful cleansing agent was as necessary anymore.  I moved on to Aubrey Organics for my weekly shampooing.

Product Review – Kinky Curly Knot Today

I’d like to point out some things before I rate this.

• Kinky Curly works well with other products.  I’ve seen many reviews claiming it doesn’t but that just isnt’ true in all cases.  I use Kinky Curly with Aubrey Organics daily as well as my sister (the PJ) who uses KC with other products as well.  We’ve had NO problems.  I think if you use natural, high quality products with KC you will find it will work in conjunction with them quite nicely.  
• I was not using natural oils very often or doing a pre-shampoo oil treatment back then and that may have made the difference for me.  If I had, I probably would have continued using that shampoo. 
• I didn’t know nearly as much about checking out ingredients in hair products back then and  just wasn’t as knowledgeable about my hair.  I would switch from a product without finding out WHY it wasn’t working.  I’m much more informed and in tuned to my hair now.

Kinky Curly Come Clean shampoo    **** 


I need to give it another try since I know what I was doing wrong a couple of years ago when I stopped using it.  I think my hair needed some oil treatments and that may have been the reason I felt the shampoo was too drying.  My hair was super clean and it did a wonderful job of removing all the gunk I was putting in it at the time.  I am happy with my Aubrey Organics shampoo, but I think so highly of this line that I will try the KC shampoo again to see if I wanna start using it regularly. 


This may seem like a wishy-washy product review but I feel you should be completely informed about what was going on with me when I was using it.  That’s the only fair way to assess a product so you will have a much more informed decision to make. 


If you are looking for a shampoo that will really clean whatever you have in your hair then Kinky Curly Come Clean is the product for you.
