Spring is here and most of us are antsy and ready to get out of the house! Every spring beauty is eager for a fresh face when they get out and about. The best way to do that is to have a stellar skin care routine that is keeping your face healthy and happy. I’m a tad bit older than most of you who love my blog, so I worry about anti-aging, but we all want the same thing when no matter what the age. Clear, beautiful skin that glows!
My spring skin care routine has been taken up a notch and often I get questions on what I”m using and loving. I figured it was time to share since most of what I use are pretty popular, easy to find and work really well. What’s really great about my routine is that I have sprinkled in affordable with slightly expensive so there’s a great mixture. I also will share less expensive options if your wallet won’t allow you to all out. Hey, we all are on some kind of budget!
Clarisonic New Mia Smart Skincare Set
Now, I have been using cleansing brushes for a few years now and my old one conked out after three years of good use. I’ve been on the hunt for a new one and did some real great research. Now, my old one was pricey, so I was used to the plush and wanted an equally great cleansing device so I opted for the Clarisonic Mia Smart Anti-Aging and Cleansing Skincare Device. The Mia Smart 3-in-1 Connected Sonic Beauty Device visibly minimizes pores and under-eye puffiness, creates firmer-feeling contours, and allows for flawless makeup blending. This device is pretty plush so if this is out of your price point, less expensive cleansing brushes are the Clarisonic Mia Prima Facial Cleansing & Pore Minimizing Skincare Device or the Olay Regenerist Facial Cleansing Brush. Both are much less but popular and do a great job.
Clarisonic Refreshing Gel Cleanser
I cleanse my face with the Clarisonic Refreshing Gel Cleanser and with my sensitive skin, this is my cleanser of choice. I love how well it works, how easily it lathers up without drying my face and the price is super inexpensive. Under $20 and lasts a long time are other excellent reasons to pick this up right away. Cleansing is vital in any beauty skin care routine so make sure you do this regularly.
Dermalogica Multi-Active Toner
After I cleanse my face I make sure to tone. Toning is necessary. These liquid moisturizers enhance the skin’s surface, hydrates, reduces pore size and can reduce flaking or redness. Every time you wash you need to tone…PERIOD. I love Dermalogica Multi-Active Toner and have been for YEARS. It lasts forever, does an excellent job and in two sizes so you don’t have to spend a grip. Your skin care routine is not good if you skip this step.
With all the issues with my under eye puffiness and dark circles, I really love the Sonic Awakening Eye Massager that energizes the under eye area with your moisturizer of choice. I personally use Murad Resurgence Renewing Eye Cream which is a eye brightener, reducer of wrinkles and increases firmness. Now, I love Murad. Been using this line for years but know they can be pricey for some, so if you want an eye cream for less, then try CeraVe Eye Repair Cream, Eye Cream for Dark Circles & Puffiness.
Murad Resurgence Renewing Eye Cream
Moisturizing is crucial in a person’s beauty regimen. There are thousands if not millions of products on the market that try and address every beauty flaw or problem known to women. I personally deal with hyperpigmentation, aging skin and living in a dry climate, so finding the right moisturizer for your skin will take some real trial and error. Like I’ve stated before, I really love Murad and choose one of their moisturizers from their Resurgence® line that addresses anti-aging issues.
Murad Resurgence® Age–Balancing Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 30 & MURAD Resurgence Age-Balancing Night Cream
For day moisturizing I opt for the Murad Resurgence® Age–Balancing Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 30 and for night I use the MURAD Resurgence Age-Balancing Night Cream. Now, both are on the higher end price wise but they last a long time, you don’t need much and I’m paying more for the anti-aging components that address firming, revitalizing and smoothing. Now, the biggest concerns for day moisturizing is sun protection along with being lightweight so makeup can be added and not be too heavy or cause shine. For night, they tend to be heavier and concentrates on repairing, restoring, and regenerating while we sleep.
Sometimes I opt for just one when funds are low and go for the day as the extra SPF at night won’t hurt, but honestly, it’s up to you and your finances. For my younger lovelies who don’t need all that anti-aging or for anyone looking for less expensive options for moisturizers, I would suggest the Burt’s Bees Daily Face Moisturizing Cream for day and Burt’s Bees Night Cream for at night. Both are hugely popular and less than $12. You can’t beat it, honestly.
Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40
I just have to add a great facial sunscreen that is not chalking or dry and will not leave a white residue on your face and neck. The Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40 is my new favorite sunscreen that is totally clear, absorbs easily, & leaves skin soft & silky. Every black girl’s dream sunscreen that goes on clear. Please don’t just rely on the sunscreen in your makeup or moisturizer and give this a try. I think you will really like it and find it useful in your skin care routine.
So, here’s my daily beauty routine that I’ll be using all spring and summer. Makeup will be used sparingly as I really don’t have many uses for it while most of the time I”m stuck inside, so my main focus will be keeping my skin clear, moisturized and (hopefully) blemish-free!
Stay beautiful Lovelies,
