The Gabrielle Union Collection At New York & Company Is Everything!

I love Gabrielle Union and New York & Company. Both are creators of flawless style.  Gabrielle Union is more than a style icon as  she’s not afraid to stand up for what’s right and to take care of her business. I am so happy to share that her brand is thriving! Everything she touches turns to platinum and she’s been steadily rising with the successful launch of her haircare line for textured hair, Flawless by Gabrielle Union. I’ve yet to try the line (believe me, I am dying to try it!), but I was pleasantly surprised a few weeks ago to see she’s expanding her brand.

The star of Being Mary Jane is taking her on-point fashion sense even further by partnering with one of my favorite stores, New York & Company. Yes, the new Gabrielle Union Collection has made its debut by pairing with one of the leading specialty manufacturer and retailer of women’s fashion apparel and accessories.

This collection is impressive to say the least. I was pretty blown away at many of her pieces which is touted as an “eclectic mix of high fashion, street-savvy and signature statement pieces. This partnership was announced earlier in the year and according to Gabrielle, this is a great partnership.  “I am excited to work with a brand that’s known for embracing diversity and that caters specifically to women—especially women who want to look on-point without breaking the bank. I can’t wait to show everyone what I’ve been working on!” PR Newswire

NY&CO has been embracing diversity in their brand ambassadorship for some time now and I’ve been noticing. Eva Mendes partnered with them a few years ago and while I love her and her style, I was less impressed with her line than I am with Gabrielle’s. Eva’s line seems to embrace floral romanticism and Gabrielle’s line is aligned with the award winning actress’s character, Mary Jane Paul on Being Mary Jane.

This collection’s focus is pretty simple: polished, sophisticated, smart and edgy. Gabrielle opens up about the focus “[the collection] embodies a specific New York & Company customer—the career woman who needs easy and effortless styles that are polished and on-trend.” She adds, “Mary Jane’s style reflects power, leadership, and risk taking. She wears classic styles but with a twist, which is why I think she’d definitely shop at New York & Company.”

There are suits, tunics, rompers and dresses. A one stop shop for all and I like the style of her line. The way the pieces drape the body allows for one’s own shape to make way. What caught my eye immediately in her collection was how the pieces were made for women of color and our curves. There’s an appreciation for the woman who works, plays and owns her life and style in that order.

According to Greg Scott, CEO of NY&C, “Our customers will relate to Gabrielle. She has worked hard to establish a successful career and is both, aspirational and inspirational to our consumer. Gabrielle’s collection will be unlike anything our customers have ever seen from us.” I agree as this collection and some pieces she’s added to their popular 7th Avenue line, allow for diversity in body shape and all the curves that come with them.

Several of her pieces can be worn as casual or business attire when paired with the right shoes and accessories (especially the tops). This gives more versatility and choices in styling.  A few choice pieces and you’ve got your entire fall wardrobe. Another perk in the collection was Gabrielle’s focus on making sure to create looks that will not break the bank.

The star surely can wear items outside of our price range, but she created pieces with quality and depth without the high sticker price. Gotta love her down to earth understanding that women want beauty with the price range they can afford. Gabrielle shares, “I am excited to work with a brand that’s known for embracing diversity and that caters specifically to women—especially women who want to look on-point without breaking the bank.”

Honestly, I’m in love with quite a few items and plan on getting several for fall. I’m ready to hit the holiday party scene with many pieces from her sexy and fun collection starting off with that jaw-dropping 7TH Avenue – Colorblock Sheath Dress. When I saw it I knew it had to be in my closet just as much as the “FIRE” Sweater. With reasonable prices, versatility in styling and pieces that will hug my curves in all the right places; I’m feeling real good about this collection and my wallet!
