Week four is here and it’s time to discuss the rectangle body shape. For all the rectangles out there it’s your time to shine!
The rectangle body shape has a athletic build with very little waist definition. Rectangle body shapes have almost the same width throughout their bust, waist and hips. There are usually little to no curves but you do have slender arms and legs.
What flatters the Rectangle body shape?
Just like all the body shapes, Rectangle has its challenges. For tops the idea is to create shape so scoopneck and sweetheart necklines are best along with tops that have a contoured waistline. The idea for this shape is to add dimension to your frame. Creating a waist by adding volume to the top and lower body and a wide belt is a great way to do this. This can give the rectangle shape an hourglass figure. Stay away from the skinny belts as it will make your midsection look bigger.
Wrap style dresses that emphasis the waist are great for this body shape. Ruching and cinching on dresses look amazing on this shape and can really give those curves you desire. Prints, textures, ruffles give this shape some volume while cinching around the waist will also help with the dimension to the body frame.
Rectangle body shape has the luxury of wearing just about any type of skirt or pants but fitted pants, A-line and pencil skirts look the best. The pencil skirt will give a sophisticated lean look if that’s what you are going for. Don’t forget to show off your assets! If you are a rectangle body shape and have some toned arms, shoulders and legs then show them off. Jackets need to be nipped at the waist and coats that flare from the waist look great.
Next week will be the final body shape, the wedge, so make sure to check it out.
