Women of Color at the SAG Awards 2013

*Sigh*….the only pictures I was able to see yesterday of Women of Color at the 2013 SAG Awards were from African-American blogs or websites.  I’m not an Awards show junkie so I waited to see who wore what until the next day.  I was watching the morning news to get a few glimpses of the dresses Monday morning.  Hey, I love the fashion show of it all.  Well, I finally saw who was being called the beauties of the night on major outlets and I was first disappointed and then that disappointment turned to anger.

Why did I HAVE to turn on my laptop to see any women of color since they too were there.  With the stunning women that we had there that looked like me, I had to look away from the TV to see them?!   Well, I’m jumping on the bandwagon to share more shots of us…women of color as they graced the red carpet.

I have to share the lovely ladies who wore their Natural hair to the event and they did not disappoint!

We’ve seen Ms. Viola Davis sporting her Natural look before during the Oscars 2012.  Here she is again looking graceful and lovely.

This is an up and coming star, Teyonah Parris, who is a new member to the Mad Men cast.  I am LOVING that hair and it’s all hers and its all gorgeous!

Don’t get me wrong…there were stunning women of all races at the SAG Awards but I just wanted to show how beautiful the women of color were espcially since the major media outlets seem to forget about them.

Viola's style is looking better and better. She is owning it for sure! She looks so much younger and of course her body is on point. The other Young Lady's hair is absolutely beautiful and I may have to catch an episode of Mad Man to see how she wears it on the show. Very nice and the colors of all the dresses are beautiful.

Yes, the colors are absolutely gorgeous. All I saw on the news were reds and black but the women of color stopped OUTSIDE the box and wore some beautiful colors of the rainbow. Very happy with their choices.

Viola is truly owning it and I don't watch Mad Men but I might have to see this new star.

Great post! I was wondering where I had seen the actress Teyonah Paris. I'm a fan of Mad Men, it's so popular for the fashion. Teyonah's role is a new character on the show. She won't be wearing natural hair on that show though. Since Mad Men takes place in the 60's she will be wearing the hairstyles common to that time, press n curl or wigs.
I was thinking the same thing about the SAG awards.
    Best,

Thank you. I don't watch the show but glad to see she's a new cast member. Her hair is gorgeous.
