Can a wash n go...go box braids? Part 2

Here I am in Cabo San Lucas with hubby, MP taking a pic by the beautiful water.  (I promised this was my blog and wouldn't share pics of him so that's why he's cropped out. LOL) Anyway, I've got my favorite style box braids in my hair and man.....I've been missing them lately.

A new year brings new ideas or just changes from the past year.  You want to start over or start anew and here I find myself looking at pictures of myself with those long flowing braids I love so much!

I was watching Melissa Harris-Perry on the Colbert Report with MP a few night ago and was filling up with hair envy of her kinky twists!

Look at them.  Aren't they gorgeous!  I have already been seriously considering going with the box braids again and the only issue was length but seeing her in the above pic makes we wanna try those twists she has going.  I've checked out a couple of shops and cringed at the prices but I haven't spent that much on my hair in years so I know I'm being unrealistic.  I want to spend $100 dollars, MP wants to spend $10 dollars but I found a price for $150 dollars.  Guess who is gonna win?  LOL

So, I'm not done doing my research on who to go to.  The place I called for $150 has been braiding hair for over 15 years but experience is not my only worry.  I don't want them super tight and thinning my edges.  I'm so much more educated now than I was when I used to wear box braids that I know this will take some time for me to decide who will put them in.  Price is another factor since I don't wanna spend a grip and learning on maintenance is another issue.

Well, I've decided to do this and will give updates from time to time to keep you in the loop.  I'm so excited about finally doing this!  My hair has gotten longer and doing a protective style is in my future and what better way then going the braided route?  None for me!

  1. My daughter has mini braids in her hair right now and she is not looking to take them down any time soon. She loves the fact that she can pull them up or wear them down, she can wash them and remoisturize and go. I on the other hand miss her curls. LOL, go figure. Can't wait to see what you decide to do.

  2. I just put my hair in twists just trying to see if I could do my whole head and I could. Being cheap and wanna slowly build myself up to doing my own box braids. Why pay $150 dollars if I can do it myself right?

I may be taking on more than I can handle but we'll see.
